Computer Training Center for Rural Visually Challenged Youth

GSP has learned that with changing economy and increasing use of computers & IT the educated visually challenged persons must get an opportunity to take modern education and access to IT training. The organization’s training and rehabilitation center is based in Marathwada region of Maharashtra comprised of eight districts including Aurangabad. Surprisingly yet there is no single special computer training center for visually challenged persons.

Considering the need of computer training center for the challenged youth in the region GSP has decided to set up a center in Latur district at village Budhoda.

We are exploring resources in terms of financial and technical support for this proposed center and support is solicited individual, groups and organization believe in cause of inclusion and rehabilitation of visually challenged persons.


GSP-Swadhar Participates in Kala Ghoda Festival -2011

To promote the cause and products manufactured by rural persons with disability under Swadhar Rehabilitation Center, the organization participated in prestigious Kala Ghoda Festival -2011 at Mumbai during 5th To 9th February 2011.

It was second consecutive year of participation by GSP. This year at the stall a live demonstration of crafting skills of visually challenged weaver was displayed to educate people about the abilities and talent of visually challenged persons and influence attitude and response towards differently able persons as a contributor to the economy.

Major attraction was recycling of old Saris into beautiful yoga mats, floor mats, couch mats & sofa covers on a hand loom by visually challenged weavers.

The stall was sponsored by International Resource for Fairer Trade –IFRT Mumbai under capacity building and business development support to GSP-Swadhar.


GSP-Swadhar Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disability

On 3rd December GSP celebrated International Day for Persons with Disability by organizing a special function to felicitate and reward best performing vocational trainees and rehabilitated self- employed youth.

Prologue speech Mr.s Prashant Sude, deputy director of the organization shared the purpose of inviting this special gathering as an action oriented celebration of “International Day of Persons with Disability”. He explained organization’s view and mission for the social and economic inclusion of persons with disability.

Swadhar GSP’s model for the rehabilitation of rural differently able youth and women has proved its feasibility and effectiveness with several notable success stories and now has been acknowledged at various platforms.

As GSP has developed model on sustainable rehabilitation of rural persons with disability it aims to replicate its programme at larger scale to extend rehabilitation support to the most under privileged challenged persons from the Marathwada region. GSP aims to build SWADHAR as a social brand for the products manufactured by differently able persons in metro as well as local market. This will boost the effort to generate employment for economic inclusion of rural persons with disability.

He pointed out that in Maharashtra state there several organizations work for providing vocational training but efforts for employment generation are limited and GSP aims to augment efforts for employment generation by providing marketing and capacity building support to such organizations in future
