The organization works with adult rural visually challenged and orthopeadically challenged youth and women.

Majority participants or beneficiaries of Swadhar are from rural Marathwada region of Maharashtra state comprised of eight districts including Jalna, Aurangabad, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad and Beed.

Few participants also come from Karnatka and Andhra Pradesh as Latur is a boarding district and in a close proximity to these two states. However, participants also have come from other states like Gujrat and Rajsthan in search of stable employment and life with dignity.

Predominantly portion of differently able population belongs to families below poverty line and in rural area deprivation from education and lack of access to special services fortifies difficulties in the life of differently able person since his/her childhood. As a result most of the beneficiaries and less educated or completely illiterate.

The organization works with adult persons with disability and vocational training is open for men and women between age group of 18 to 45 years.

Among differently able population rural differently able women especially visually challenged are the most vulnerable and distressed segment. A marriage of a differently able girl is extremely difficult under usual circumstances. Under this social milieu differently able women are the most distressed and disadvantaged section among women and differently able population since they are not only victims of impairment but also of poverty and patriarchy.
